I have the same or a similar problem with kicker: The panel is configured to disappear after some seconds, and to appear again when hitting the bottom. This works mostly perfect, but every few days the panel doesn't appear again. I have to go to kcontrol-->panel, change something (unimportant what) so that the apply button is selectable. After clicking the apply buttom the panel reappears.
