Hi After upgrading sarge to etch I have exactly the same problem. The workaround described by Fathi does not work though. I already have both directories: /etc/xdg/menus/applications-merged (from kdebase-data 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-1) and /etc/xdg/menus/kde-applications-merged (from kdemultimedia-kappfinder-data 4:3.5.5-1). Each of them contains just one file: kde-multimedia-music.menu.
