Package: libkjsembed1
Version: 4:3.5.1-1
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source
checking for Java... configure: error: jni.h not found
under /usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj/include. Use --with-java or --without-java.
make: *** [obj-i486-linux-gnu/config.status] Error 1
pbuilder: Failed autobuilding of package
-> Aborting with an error
$ apt-file search jni.h
returns among others
java-gcj-compat-dev:
usr/lib/jvm/java-1.4.2-gcj-4.0-1.4.2.0/include/jni.h
and java-gcj-compat seems to provide a symlink from usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj
to the versioned dir.
and kdebindings build-depends on the -dev package, and the -dev package depends
on
the other package, but it fails in pbuilder anyway.
I have no clue why this is happening, as everything looks just right.

the current version of java-gcj-compat-dev fixes that problem and
kdebindings compile normally again.
closing.
the underlying problem may reappear but is not a kdebindings problem
anyway.
