- Open a new konsole, and verify that the encoding is set to Default and
that UTF-8 formatted documents (such as
http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ucs/examples/UTF-8-demo.txt) don't
display.
- Set the encoding to Unicode (UTF-8) and verify that the file displays
correctly (you'll need the right fonts, of course).
- Select "Settings / Save as Default"
- Close the window and open another konsole.
Expected: Encoding is still "Unicode (UTF-8)" (or Unicode has become the
default, so the encoding is "Default" but UTF-8 text displays correctly)
Result: Encoding is "Default" and UTF-8 text does not display correctly.
Setting the encoding to "Unicode (UTF-8)" makes it display correctly
again.

this works for me (I use it !) so I suppose this has been fixed in KDE
3.5 (and I *do* use default version).
