Package: kicker
Version: 4:3.2.1-1
Severity: minor

Icons copied to the kicker toolbar show a name or description on mouseover --
but only if the file has the .desktop extension. So for instance if you have
mozilla firefox, mouseover will show the full pathname unless the file
~.kde/share/apps/kicker/Firefox has the .desktop extension. As normal usage
is to populate kicker by dragging files from the desktop, and these desktop
icons often don't have the .desktop extension, mouseover often ends up
showing the full pathname.

I don't see any reason to keep this behavior; files in ~.kde/share/apps/kicker
are .desktop files by default and it would be nice to have the icons honor
the name when the user enters a name in the Properties | Application menu.

This is a good example of a bug that is completely opaque to a newbie, and
makes the interface seem geeky -- why would an icon show the whole path?

What would be useful is if the whole path could show inside the Properties
dialogue -- that's where the user could learn how the system works.
