Package: sddm
Version: 0.21.0+git20241213.4a9aa2e-1
Severity: normal
Since upgrading to the latest version of sddm and kde on Debian testing,
on reboot, the sddm is showing a very large, anoying virtual keyboard.
Google searches indicate that the root causing is that
InputMethod=qtvirtualkeytobard is the default, and suggested creating
editing or creating a file /etc/sddm.conf or in /etc/sddm.conf.d/ with
the contents
[General]
InputMethod=
There was also a mention that in Ubuntu 20.04 there was a UI that would
allow the Input method to be set to none. Howver, this doesn't seem to
exist in Debian, and creating a file /etc/sddm.conf or
/etc/sddm.conf.d/novirtkbd.conf doesn't seem to work.
This is really annoying, and while it's possible to make the virtual
keyboard disappear by clicking on the "keyboard down" icon to dismiss
the virtual keyboard, it seems to keep on coming back, like a bad penny,
with no way of making it Permanently Go Away.

* Stop recommending qt6-virtualkeyboard-plugin, it makes non-
virtualkeyboard aware themes unable to hide the virtual keyboard
which causes issues for all SDDM themes but KDE’s breeze. Instead
sddm-theme-breeze and sddm-theme-debian-breeze that can handle this
correctly were added that recommends in plasma-desktop 4:6.3.6-1. (Closes:
