Package: plasma-firewall
Version: 6.3.4-1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***
I upgraded from bookworm to trixie and after that kdeconnect stopped working.
Purging firewalld and plasma-firewall resolved the issue.
According to https://wiki.debian.org/Plasma%206
"plasma-firewall is a new Recommends of plasma-desktop, and will pull in
firewalld with a default ruleset if you were not already using either firewalld
or ufw."
This is an unfortunate behavior, since it breaks kdeconnect on a working system
during the upgrade.
To quote Albert Vaca Cintora, one of the main kdeconnect upstream developers,
on the kdeconnect mailing list:
"I might be wrong, but I think it's a bug that plasma-firewall pulls
firewalld as a dependency, especially if it becomes enabled by default just
by installing it. Maybe this is something that you could report to Debian?
The way I see it, plasma-firewalld is just a way to configure your firewall
IF you have one, and shouldn't force you to have one."
Please consider to fix this issue for trixie, since it might break the working
systems of many Debian kdeconnect users.
Thanks
Rainer
