This behaviour of displaying an on-screen keyboard appeared in installs performed with "daily" testing images (the ones we build every day targeting the next release) of Debian-Installer since the 20241220_0410 build of the installer. I'm guessing that this is not an intentional change. The first example I've seen in our openQA tests is here: https://openqa.debian.net/tests/336825#step/_graphical_wait_login/2 which is showing the login prompt directly after the 1st reboot in a default install, having selected LXQt as the DE. I believe that the issue was visible elsewhere earlier than this, because Roland Clobus updated the code in our tests to deal with the pop-up keyboard on Dec 18th, so I guess the problem was showing on the Live images a little earlier.
