This bug is pretty annoying. I can edit config files by hand, but it's sometimes difficult to do, if you don't know exactly what to enter there...
Steps to reproduce:
1. Run KDE control centre
2. Select any module requiring administrator privileges (e.g. login manager)
3. Click on Administrator Mode button
4. Enter password into kdesu popup window, click OK
Administrator mode is supposed to be activated, instead, initial KDE control
centre screen appears.
If I run:
kdesu -u root -c "kcmshell kdm --embed 41945141 --lang en_US"
from the console, for the first time, an error window pops up (see
attachement). After clicking OK, administrator mode of chosen module is
normally activated. Running from the console for the second time, with the
same --embed parameter, no error window pops up and administrator mode is
also normally activated.
Not running dcopserver is not the case. See:

2209 ? S 0:00 kdeinit: dcopserver --nosid
