I know that Daniel Schepler, the kdepim maintainer, is aware of the situation and plans on removing that dependency as soon as possible. At the moment, and afaik, any progress in this area is blocked by #326113, which just needs me or some other KDE packager (or Daniel himself) finding some time to fix it.
