I've talked to the X11 maintainer Branden Robinson, and he tells me that the us_intl keymap is broken in some X11 versions, including yours, 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8. so it's not a KDE issue at all.
OK. As I only use KDE (and not Gnome or other windows managers) and the console, I didn't suspected X11. Sorry for filing this bug against KDE.
all this is coherent with the fact that all machines you experience the problem in are Sarge machines. so, please update to -10 and get back to us.
Shure I will. I've just run aptitude to update and -10 has not yet hit my mirror. I usually do a daily update, so I will tell you ASAP.
