Ok - it looks like your xserver is crashing when you log out of kde.  I 
don't know what is causing that, but I may know a work-around.

In /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc under the [X-:*-Core] group, if you set
TerminateServer=true
then kdm will restart the xserver rather than resetting it.  If your xserver 
is crashing when it is reset, this may work around that problem.
