I'm trying to get a login shell in Konsole by having "bash --login"
in the "Execute" field of the "Session" tab of the "Configure Konsole"
menu. However, I never get a login shell. In fact I can put whatever
I want in there; I always just get a (non-login) shell.

there is a list of "types of session" in the left there. I, e.g., have
"Linux Console", "Midnight Commander", "Shell" and some others there.
Please make sure you are editing the command of the one you use, most
likely "Shell".

I recommend you to restart konsole after changes, or manually select
Menu -> Session -> New Shell (or "New whatever"), in order for the
changes to take effect.
I'm closing the bug, since I'm 100% confident that konsole works as
advertised. If you have any trouble, contact me by private mail or ask
in an appropriate IRC channel.
