The it relies entirely on the info in /proc/cpuinfo which only reports the maximum CPU speed but not the current one on kernel 2.6. The actualy frequency is reported on different places in either proc or sysfs. namely: /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_setspeed or /proc/sys/cpu/0/speed Therefore the display of the current cpu frequence shows a wrong value if power management and speed scaling is used. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.4 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Versions of packages klaptopdaemon depends on: ii kdelibs4 4:3.2.2-1 KDE core libraries ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.16-4 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-11 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libfam0c102 2.7.0-5 client library to control the FAM ii libgcc1 1:3.3.3-6 GCC support library ii libice6 4.3.0-7 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libpng12-0 1.2.5.0-5 PNG library - runtime ii libqt3c102-mt 3:3.2.3-2 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libsm6 4.3.0-7 X Window System Session Management ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.3-6 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 4.3.0-7 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0-7 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxrender1 0.8.3-7 X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxtst6 4.3.0-7 X Window System event recording an ii xlibs 4.3.0-7 X Window System client libraries m ii zlib1g 1:1.2.1-5 compression library - runtime -- no debconf information --------------------------------------- Received: (at 244317-done) by bugs.debian.org; 18 Apr 2004 21:26:55 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Apr 18 14:26:55 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from xdsl-177-5.nblnetworks.fi (watergate.kos.to) [217.30.177.5] (Debian-exim) by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1BFJoV-0000j1-00; Sun, 18 Apr 2004 14:26:55 -0700 Received: from nchip by watergate.kos.to with local (Exim 4.30) id 1BFJoH-0005vB-CM; Mon, 19 Apr 2004 00:26:41 +0300 Date: Mon, 19 Apr 2004 00:26:41 +0300 From: Riku Voipio <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Werner Punz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Bug#244317: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: [Bug 79871] Klaptopdameon does not read the cpu frequency properly] Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> X-message-flag: Warning: message not sent with a DRM-Certified client User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.5.1+cvs20040105i Sender: Riku Voipio <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-5.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 X-Spam-Level: X-CrossAssassin-Score: 1 On Sun, Apr 18, 2004 at 11:17:33PM +0200, Werner Punz wrote: > file. > As Volker suggestet, the problem indeed is fixed at the 2.6.5 kernel. > The frequency now is correctly reported in the klaptop applet. > And thanks for the fast responses.
