Package: kdebase
Version: 3.2.1-1
I really have no idea which package is actually responsible for this
problem, and I apologize for that. Maybe you can figure it out and
reassign this bug to the right package. It's driving me nuts...
I have found that when I tell KDE to display a Type 1 font in bold, it
tends to choose the Bold-Condensed version instead of the Bold version.
This looks terrible.
I like to use Nimbus Sans L as my UI font, so this is really annoying.
It does appear to be a KDE specific problem. I've checked The GIMP,
OpenOffice, and gfontview; these work properly.
gfontview tells me that "n019044l.{pfb,afm}" are the files for the
Nimbus Sans L Bold-Condensed. Moving these files away from their usual
location so that KDE cannot find them may actually be a sufficient
temporary workaround, until the bug is fixed properly; I'll know as soon
as I restart X.
