If I enable keyboard layout (with french keyboard), the ALTGR key is
not usable anymore meaning that you cannot get | symbol which is very
annoying on xterms...
This is probably your own mistake. notice that in the keyboard layouts,
you need to select a correct keyboard model too. Generic 105 key model is
probably the one you want.
Problem is that on my laptop, this is the selected keyboard and this
does not work as soon as I enable XKB extension... Do you have a french
keyboard?
On the desktop, same problem...
