Its very simple to use binary updates while keeping the orig.tar.gz pristine. If its simply a BRANCH update just look at one of the packages I maintain. I'm using diff -Nrua with uuencode. By the way, Debian's normal diff method can even fail for UTF-8 (eg .desktop) files, I have seen this happen myself. Chris
