Hi, I found your thread on a bug, and I had the same thing I just fixed it... I don't know how to post on that thread thingy, so I thought I'd email you to tell you what I did.
Just went into kcontrol > look n feel > system notifications > There's a player settings button there, Here I placed the location of the arts player (/usr/bin/artsplay on mine) and it all worked fine.
