Hi! I just noticed, that by default in kdmrc the section [X-*-Core] contains the parameter SessionsDirs=/etc/X11/sessions,/usr/share/xsessions which appears not to be sufficient to find all window managers available on my system, while adding the directory containing dozens of .desktop files, SessionsDirs=/etc/X11/sessions,/usr/share/xsessions,/usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions (as the .desktop files are even provided with this kdm package), makes them available to kdm. Maybe you should consider the change above or put the .desktop files from package kdm in one of the directories specified in the default kdmrc.
