So far, I can only duplicate this on my machine when X is set to 1280x1024 in the XF86Config-4 file (24bit color). If I change the resolution to 1024x768 using the KDE control panel, things seem to work fine. After logging off and logging back on again, and working for a few moments (the first few clicks are fine); the cursor seems to become offset from the actual point where clicks take effect. Cursor shape changes (for resizing windows, clicking on icons, etc) take effect as per the actual point of mouse focus (so you can see where your pointer actually is, by the way it changes shape when traversing window borders, etc). The direction of offset is not consistent. One time the click point was about 200 pixels above the cursor graphic; another time it was offset roughly the same distance to the left from the cursor graphic. The cursor graphic will not traverse any closer to the edge of the display, than the actual click point does. (so the cursor appears to hit an invisible wall when the click point gets to the edge of the screen). I do not know of a way to test this without KDE (the command-line resolution changer I know of, needs to be manually re-run every time.. and the problem appears only after logoff and logon in KDE). -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.24-1-686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages kde depends on: ii kde-amusements 5:42 The K Desktop Environment (Games a ii kde-core 5:42 The K Desktop Environment (Core) ii kdeaddons 4:3.3.1-1 add-on plugins and applets provide ii kdeadmin 4:3.3.1-1 KDE Administration tools metapacka ii kdeartwork 4:3.3.1-1 themes, styles and more from the o ii kdegraphics 4:3.3.1-1 KDE Graphics metapackage ii kdemultimedia 4:3.3.1-1 KDE Multimedia metapackage ii kdenetwork 4:3.3.1-2 KDE Network metapackage ii kdepim 4:3.3.1-2 KDE Personal Information Managemen ii kdeutils 4:3.3.1-1 KDE Utilities metapackage ii kdewebdev 1:3.3.1-1 web development apps from the offi -- no debconf information --------------------------------------- Received: (at 284021-done) by bugs.debian.org; 18 Jan 2005 15:00:39 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jan 18 07:00:39 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from tomts5.bellnexxia.net (tomts5-srv.bellnexxia.net) [209.226.175.25] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1CquqV-0001TY-00; Tue, 18 Jan 2005 07:00:39 -0800 Received: from [192.168.0.100] ([70.49.17.55]) by tomts5-srv.bellnexxia.net (InterMail vM.5.01.06.10 201-253-122-130-110-20040306) with ESMTP id <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Tue, 18 Jan 2005 10:00:37 -0500 From: Christopher Martin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: Christopher Martin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: kde: resolution resize from 1280x1024 causes pointer/clickpoint offset Date: Tue, 18 Jan 2005 10:00:37 -0500 User-Agent: KMail/1.7.1 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-1.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_20 autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 X-Spam-Level: > so you might want to mark this as "cannot duplicate" and close it.
