Which options did you use for the page style? Do you use each page as left page or do you change between right and left binding. If you use the last one then you hava a blank paper each time for the right binding page. Look at "Printer Settings - Options - Pages" (or similar) I have only a German GUI here and version 4.0.3.3 from wheezy backports.
