I noticed (the hard way, losing some hours of work) that OO writer
seems to have a problem saving files after printing goes wrong.
To reproduce:
- install a printer that uses 'lp' (I didn't test whether this also
happens with other printing methods)
- make sure your lpd is *not* running
- create a writer document, type some text
- save; this works
- print
- wait for the error message popup ("Error while printing") and click OK
- type some more text
- check that the "save" menu entry is enabled, indicating changed text
- save (Ctrl-S)
- check that the "save" menu entry is now disabled
- quit
- start OO again with that file and see that the text added *after* the
printing attempt is missing; also notice the file timestamp is that of
the first save
I have also seen two other variants of events after the printing
attempt:
- "save" is disabled even when you change text; when you quit, you
aren't asked if you'd like to save or discard, so you lose changes.
- "save" is enabled, and stays enabled even after saving; in that
case, when quitting, the usual "save/discard/cancel" dialog appears,
and selecting "save" there really saves the file.
