Another observation:
On the first box, where I have this problem, I have it also with .xls files
(renaming, opening, etc.).
But xls files somehow open correctly from pine, inspite of that they are
actually opened as a file /tmp/img-VND126804, e.g. I do not understand this.
Note that
$ file /tmp/img-VND126804 -i
/tmp/img-VND126804: application/octet-stream
$ file /tmp/img-VND126804
/tmp/img-VND126804: Microsoft Office Document
.doc files do not open from pine.
