thank you very much for forwarding my request and sorry for the added effort! For me all software is Debian and whenever I find something annoying in the software that I use, I file a bug in the Debian BTS. However, I see you are right that this behaviour increases the maintenance effort on the Debian side and would make maintenance even impossible if it was adopted by more users. Next time I will send my requests to the appropriate upstream bug tracker.
