Hi, I use an en_AU locale. There's no en_AU help package, so I
install the next best thing, openoffice.org-help-en-gb. Since this
provides the English language help files that I need, I don't install
other English language help packages (I don't want
openoffice.org-help-en-us since it will have the wrong spelling).
But when I try to access help (F1) within OpenOffice.org, it refuses,
complaining:
"The help file for this topic is not installed..
Please install the openoffice.org-help-en-us package or the locale
specific help package openoffice.org-help-<language-code>".
I already *have* installed an openoffice.org-help-en package. Why is
it being ignored?

This awful awful problem is now fixed in OOo 3.1.0.
In the menu, go to the Tools/Options dialog box, then the Language
Settings tab, Languages subsection.
There is now the option to set "Language of: User Interface".
When Language of: User Interface is set to "Default", it uses my locale
and therefore tries to find the en_AU localisation (including help
files), and fails to find it.
Instead, I can change Language of: User Interface to "English (UK)",
which is satisfactory. Help is back, yay.
