Hi, I've the same problem on Ubuntu 8.04, OOo 2.4.0. The original document posted by shai generates the same error here. Also when the document is saved as .odt file. Some more description: 1. Spellchecking does work 'sort of' (in case of typo, the correction is added, the typo is not removed). 2. Some elements from the file can be deleted (e.g. frames but not table elements) 3. Text cannot be changed or formatted, but styles can. 4. The file can be saved, so it seems not to be real read-only.
