For this, I went to the "Names" dialog via Ctrl-F3, selected the 1st name to change, and, lacking a "rename" button, just typed the new name and hit "New". Since typing in the new name (say, New01) did not change the range in the text field, it did what I expected, and I could just remove the old name. Now I started to do the same with the second name. But the new name (say, New02) was very similar to the name I just created, and OOo decided to propose an autocompletion using New01 (obviously not what I wanted), and when I finished typing the new name, the old value I wanted to use was gone.
