If a non-ipp aware application is listening on port 631, OO.o apps block while attempting to establish communication. I had some difficulty opening oocalc, as it seemed to be frozen. strace -p showed that it was trying to establish communication with port 631. Since I didn't have cups installed, I thought that was odd. netstat -pan | grep 631 showed that rpc.statd was listening to 631. /etc/init.d/nfs-common restart solved the problem. ii nfs-common 1.0.7-3 NFS support files common -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.11-1-686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages openoffice.org depends on: ii dictionaries-common [openoffi 0.49.2 Common utilities for spelling dict ii openoffice.org-bin 1.1.3-9 OpenOffice.org office suite binary ii openoffice.org-debian-files 1.1.3-8+1 Debian specific parts of OpenOffic ii openoffice.org-l10n-en [openo 1.1.3-9 English (US) language package for ii ttf-opensymbol 1.1.3-9 The OpenSymbol TrueType font ii xml-core 0.09 XML infrastructure and XML catalog openoffice.org recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
