Using the same set of packages [1] as Pontus, I can't reproduce either of these bugs. I don't have the kde integration package installed, and I've tried this both with and without openoffice.org-crashrep installed. I don't have the stylist starting up by default which might change things a little. I'm running Gnome 2.8, with metacity 2.8.6-1 and the 2.6.9-1-686-smp kernel.
If there's a document that can be used to reproduce this bug, I'd love to get a look at it.
