I have been suffering this bug myself, too. Exported PDFs in the three variaties (screen optimised, print optimised, press optimised) all exhibit this problem.
I followed this xprint advice, restarted xprint, then oowriter, and yet my print outs have not changed. So perhaps this is a different bug after all.
