Yes, the two bugs you mention occur on my installation as well. It
would seem to be a bug in how OO Impress handles opening a new
window since any operation that requires opening a window popup
causes the selected text to instead "reselect" the text box itself.
I know this was all working last weekend. I upgraded with apt-get
a few days ago and now this new bug has resulted.
It definitely makes OO Impress unusable. (The only temporary work
around I see right now is to edit your text in OO Writer and then copy
& paste it into OO Impress.)
Richard
This makes impress almost unuasble to write a new document...
Feel free to complete the bugs I already oppened...

Hello,
I have recently upgrade to OOo 1.1.2-4 from testing and now I'm having
many
problems with OO Impress with text functions. When I try to select a word
in
a text object and then try to do anything that opens up another window
(such as selecting Insert->Special Character... or RIGHT-CLICK->Character,
etc. that opens up another window) then somehow the word I've selected
is unselected and instead the entire text frame is selected. Hence, if I
try
to apply any changes it applies it to the entire text frame instead of
just
the word chosen. This makes it impossible to perform superscipts or insert
special characters in this manner.
These functions seem to work fine in OO Writer, but not in OO Impress.
I'm currently using KDE as a window manager and thought it might have
something to do with a window focus issue, but I also tried it under
Gnome and Enlightenment window managers and have the same problem.
Can anyone else confirm this problem?
