Right. What I think happens is as follows:

This file is needed and is now in ttf-opensymbol. openoffice.org depends
on ttf-opensymbol. So ttf-opensymbol is installed first (and therfore
leaving that file in place), then openoffice.org is tried to be upgraded and
tries to delete that directory because it is not in that package anymore but
fails to do that because it is there and non-empty because ttf-opensymbol
already has it.

It doesn't look perfect but I don't think this is a bug and I have no
idea how to prevent dpkg from doing this and why this would make
sense....
