Indeed that's a possibility. But you cannot choose a PDF converter as a default printer (didn't work for me). The other possibility is the following: Set CUPS_SERVER to some invalid value, and the cups stuff will get deactivated. I have export CUPS_SERVER=dummy in /etc/openoffice/openoffice.conf and when you oopadmin with this, too, you can configure printers as usual. Then configure the printer as "CUPS_SERVER=myserver kprinter" A silly workaround, but at least, it works.
