gnome recent files

this has been mentioned indirectly by people wishing ximian patches, but
this specific feature hasnt been stated yet.  i would like for files
recently used in openoffice.org to show up in gnome's "Actions->Open
Recent" menu.  i'm working very hard right now on deploying debian in a
corporate desktop environment and the lack of this feature is killing me
:-)  any help you all can give me is greatly appreciated.  thanks!
