When trying to enter ecircumflex 'ê' with ^ key then e key (french KBD),
nothing appears. Use of character table is needed to select 
the character !!

That issue was the case some years ago with Staroffice 5.1 and was 
solved with Staroffice 5.2 and also on a direct install of OOO 1.0.0
there was no problem.
