No-one else has reported seeing a problem like this, and I would guess you have some problem with the files on your machine. When I look for references to this 'BFD: ... invalid string offset xxx' I see discussions of corrupted binaries. 1.1.1 has now entered unstable. Please will you test with this package and let us know if the problem still occurs. If you still have the problem and are using prelink, please check that this is not caused by prelink by undoing the prelinking too. Also, make sure that LD_PRELOAD and /etc/ld.so.preload do not contain any entries to preload libraries. Thanks, Chris
