Bug#229012: how to fix this

I'm not a subscriber to this list.  Just a newbie trying to learn my way 
around Libranet 2.8.1 (a Debian-based distribution.)  I found this same 
behavior with my OOo 1.1.0 Calc, and I found my way to this bug report. 
 It describes my problem exactly.  How do I fix it?  How does one 
"revert the Ximian patch . . . "
