In the terminal from which oowriter was started, I get below output. This behaviour started shortly before the upload of the 1.1rc packages, so it might well be related to libc or some other library. The 1.1rc packages crash just as hard, but at least it now gives a stack dump. The former ooo packages would only report "Application Error" upon crashing. For the record, I have "dash" as the system /bin/sh, this might be the cause of the sh syntax error message, as sometimes #!/bin/sh scripts use /bin/bash-specific constructs. I do not know if this the cause of the oowriter crash, or that is just a side effect in the crash handler. If you need more info, I will gladly provide it. Hi Joost, I just looked at that stack trace again and realised it was a duplicate of bug #171623: 'crash on startup if LANG/LC_ALL/LC_MESSAGES not set and -l10n-en or -l10n-de not installed'. See the report for the details: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=171623&archive=yes Closing bug, as this problem was fixed in 1.1.0-3. Ryan, your additional information posted to the bug report on Sep 24 shows a completely different stack dump and therefore the problem is not related. If you are still having problems please open a new bug report with a stack dump created by the latest packages. Thanks, Chris
