I tried setting my eth0 configuration in /etc/network/interfaces as you posted with 1.1.0 and I was not able to reproduce any problems as you reported. What exactly do you mean by 'an empty window frame'? Can you try to reproduce it with 1.1.0, and post a screen shot of the problem? Chris
