I tried this and it didn't happen. Did you use writer or something else? How did you you format the font (what mouse clicks/keyboard strokes)? Does it still happen if you reset your settings? ie mv ~/.sversionrc ~/.sversionrc.x mv ~/.openoffice ~/.openoffice.x [run openoffice and try to reproduce] to restore your settings: rm -r ~/.sversionrc ~/.openoffice mv ~/.sversionrc.x ~/.sversionrc mv ~/.openoffice.x ~/.openoffice Chris
