I'll try to dig a little more into it today.

I have to tell that I use debhelper version 4.1.55, which comes from the
GNOME 2.2 backport of James Strandboge.

As Rene already told me, the diff takes a *really* long time.

BTW, it would be really great if it did not build Python 2.2 but used
the version already on the system.
