I usually use the en_US or C locale, but I couldn't write accents in OpenOffcie until I creates the es_ES locales (I'm from Spain). Now I can write them even if I am not using the es_ES locale... (don't ask me why...) To generate locales, type: "dpkg-reconfigure locale" Hope this helps. Regards. Beñat
