The CUPS client is configured to connect to one of the hosts on my network. OpenOffice takes ages to start if my laptop is offline as the "lpc status" command it calls only times out after 3 minutes. I've confirmed that this is the problem as OpenOffice loads up normally if I uninstall all CUPS clients on my laptop when it is unplugged from the network. Could you please force OpenOffice to background or timeout lpc earlier?
