The problem is that openoffice.org-gnome contains more things.
It e.g. has depends on the whole GTk/GNOME/Pango library family...

Therefore, we just suggested it instead of Recommends:

I think that the -gnome name is more obvious that a GNOME user wants
to have it than the -mimelnk one...
