I using the unofficial debs from http://people.debian.org/~nidd/debian unstable/

The script /usr/bin/ooffice does not pass parameters to the real openoffice,
therefore you can't use it to open kmail attachments directly.

Suggestion:
Change the line

~/.openoffice/soffice

to:
 
~/.openoffice/soffice $@

There is still a problem if the name of the attachment contains spaces. This
can be worked around by changing  $@ to "$@" , but I think it this is a bug in
kmail (it should either quote the name itself or remove the whitespace).
