"Inadmissible path. /usr/lib/openoffice/share/autotext/english_uk does not exist" This is my locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 There are two issues. 1) For some reason the English dictionary was not installed. 2) for some reason it has added "_uk" instead of "_gb" to the filename. UK is the ISO country code of Ukraine, last time I checked they did not speak English. OK, let's look. the places where dictionaries are mentioned are ^'d, you need a non-proportional font to read it properly ;-): $ apt-cache show openoffice.org-l10n-en Package: openoffice.org-l10n-en Priority: optional Section: editors Installed-Size: 18808 Maintainer: Debian OpenOffice Team <debian-openoffice@lists.debian.org> Architecture: all Source: openoffice.org Version: 1.1.3-9 Replaces: openoffice.org1.1-l10n-en Provides: openoffice.org-l10n-1.1.3, openoffice.org1.1-l10n-en Recommends: openoffice.org (>> 1.1.2+1.1.3) Suggests: myspell-dictionary-en, openoffice.org-hyphenation-en, openoffice.org-thesaurus-en, openoffice.org-help-en ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ (1) Conflicts: openoffice.org1.1-l10n-en, openoffice.org (<< 1.1.2+1.1.3), openoffice.org (>> 1.1.3+1.1.4) Filename: pool/main/o/openoffice.org/openoffice.org-l10n-en_1.1.3-9_all.deb Size: 3525164 MD5sum: 85c7c5733ca60733bc3c1363ee13eab1 Description: English (US) language package for OpenOffice.org OpenOffice.org is a full-featured office productivity suite that provides a near drop-in replacement for Microsoft(R) Office. . This package contains the localization of OpenOffice.org in English (US). It contains the user interface, the templates and the autotext features. (please note that not all this is available for all possible languages). You can switch user interface language using the locales system. . Spelling dictionaries, hyphenation patterns, thesauri and help are not ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^ included in this package. There are some available in separate packages ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ (myspell-*, openoffice.org-hyphenation-*, openoffice.org-thesaurus-*, ^^^^^^^^^ (2) openoffice.org-help-*) . If you just want to be able to spellcheck etc. in other languages, you can ^^^^^^^ install extra dictionaries/hyphenation patterns/thesauri independently of ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ (3) the language packs. . For latest news on OpenOffice.org in Debian, see http://openoffice.debian.net (1) says myspell-dictionary-en which is a virtual package provided by all english myspell dictionaries: $ sudo apt-get install myspell-dictionary-en Reading Package Lists... The problem is that this is not possible to express in package relations since they are hardcoded at *build-time* and you can't run apt during a package install after you found out that you want en-GB.. > >>2) for some reason it has added "_uk" instead of "_gb" to the filename. > >> UK is the ISO country code of Ukraine, last time I checked they did > >>not speak English. > > > >I guess they mean UK as in United Kingdom... > > Are you in a position to correct this mistake? I guess, yes, I'll ask the OOo authors. As the error doesn't appear anymore in 1.1.3 which is in sarge/sid now I am closing this bug.
