following this thread as I have the same issue with gbp where my entire directory (incl Debian folder and source) gets deleted when I run the command. 

I suspect I have messed up my global gbp.conf and that’s affecting this, will post a paste of the config file here tomorrow. 

I hope both of us can get this sorted soon.

I created the package. But still after gbp buildpackage, upstream source code dir will be removed!
IDK why?!
