FYI, Here's the full text: Tue Jan 31 23:13:51 CET 2006 Savannah.GNU.org switched its policy Today Savannah.GNU.org switched its policy about the licenses of the hosted projects. Since today every project must release its documentation under the GNU Free Documentation License or any other compatible license. So now everything had to be released under the GNU GPL (the source) and the GNU FDL (the documentation[s]), or any other compatible license, to get approved on Savannah.GNU.org.
Sylvain Beucler wrote on @SV-hackers: "We will require project submitters to place their documentation under a GFDL-compatible license. We will also suggest that existing projects dual-license their existing, non-GFDL documentation." The whole stuff happends because Debian restricted their "view" about the GNU FDL, because "concerns regarding the compatibility of the GNU Free Documentation License with the Debian Free Software Guidelines came to the attention of the debian-legal mailing list." For more details have a look at Draft Debian Position Statement about the GNU Free Documentation License(GFDL) <http://people.debian.org/~srivasta/Position_Statement.xhtml> Draft of a potential vote about the GNU FDL and the Debian Guidelines <http://people.debian.org/~mjr/gr-fdl.txt> Then: Good night!
