Prima di tutto, non si da $ xhost + ma bensi $ xhost + local:root Detto cio', devi semplicemente inserire il suddetto comando nel tuo ~/.bash_profile e nel tuo ~/.bashrc (in realta' solo in uno dei due ma mi scordo sempre quale :D).
