Package: gcc 3.0.4-5
dpkg --status gcc
Status: install ok installed
Machine: hppa machine 712/80. Works perfectly OK, with the Debian
distribution.
gcc will not compile any program. At the linking phase, files
crt1.o crti.o crtn.o are missing. Indeed locate shows there are not
on the disk. I have tried copying them from a cross--compiler, but
then i get
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lc
Sure, libc is here!

install libc6-dev
did you install gcc using apt-get? or manually with dpkg?
